Recent Happenings

March 12 & 13 were big nights for Michael!  He dedicated so much of his time in going to practices for All Shook Up, an Elvis musical, at Jimtown High School.  He worked super hard and had very little free time because of being committed to doing what he enjoys doing ... singing.  It was really fun to watch him accomplish so much in the two months that he worked so hard.  His performance was fabulous!  He had one of the lead parts and we were nothing short of being very proud of him.  He even proved that he could dance!  (that's a family joke ... he always has told us that he can't dance)

John Michael's 14th birthday was on the 17th of March.  It's hard to believe that I have a 14 year old son - my flesh and blood.  This means that he will be taking driver's training next summer!!  AHHH!  I'm not going to think about that yet!

So we had a small celebration at home on his birthday THEN on Friday night he had a bunch of his friends over for hours and hours of football and basketball in the back yard.  How can boys play that much bball and football?  That always amazes me. :)  We had pizza, cake and ice cream ... and more football and bball.  In an attempt to wind them down we put in a movie before bedtime.  We made them go to bed "early" since some of the boys had basketball and other games in the morning.  They finally went to bed at 12:30am!

Ben started playing Jimtown March Madness Basketball last week.  This is his first year of playing this type of bball.  He's enjoying it.  The best part is that Clint is his coach and John Michael is the assistant.

D.A.R.E.!!!  We love the DARE program at Covenant Christian School!  We love our DARE officer!  Lt. Williams is so wonderful with the kids!  Each year he has done the program with the 5th graders. This year the state of Indiana started a program with the 7th & 8th graders as a "refresher" of what they learned in 5th grade.  It's a great program and the kids really liked it.  Covenant Christian School was the first school in this area to go through this program and the first to graduate!  This was so exciting for us as a school.  Mayor Jeff Rea was there for the graduation.  It's always fun for Clint and I to spend some time with Mayor Rea as he's become a friend to us.

So, Covenant likes to do fun things with the kids.  There are days when the kids want to do something different and fun.  On Monday they had Crazy Hair Day.  Some of the kids like to get pretty creative.  This is what Ben, Rebekah and Anna did with their hair.  Ben had his sticking up all over.  Anna had her long hair all in a bun on the top of her head with lots of colorful clips all over her head.  Bekah had lots of small buns all over and covered in clips.  Hers is hard to see but it was pretty cute.
