The Calm After ... and Before ... The Storm

February was a crazy month for me.  I feel like I'm going through the calm after the storm.  I'm also experiencing the calm before the storm!  I'm enjoying the "quietness"!

So the month of February started off with Clint being in Haiti for a week.  Here's a quick video that I put together for a Sunday morning presentation...

For the past few years I've helped or Co-chaired for the Pennies From Heaven Auction for Covenant Christian School where our kids attend.  This year I had said that I didn't want to be on the planning team because of needing a break from the auction.  Through the process I began acting as a "consultant" to my friend who ended up Chairing it without having Co-chaired before.  Two weeks before the auction date (Feb. 26) I decided to step up to help her because it was becoming overwhelming to her and the planning team.  So within days I led a 2 1/2 hour meeting with the team to help them get on track and move forward.  I hit the ground running!  It was a crazy two weeks but we pulled it off in the end.  It turned out to be a nice evening.

The kids painted some small buckets to be used as centerpieces.  They worked really hard and created some really cute ones.

We had some really great auction items made by the kids.  One of the 4th grade boys made a Covenant Christian Monopoly Game with his own hands.  It was so cute.  He had "Go to Principle's Office" instead of "Go To Jail".  :)

Each of the classes created their own project.  In the picture is the 5th grade class project of stepping stones.  The 1st/2nd graders had a bird theme.  They made two bird baths with stones.  So cute!

So what is the "calm before the storm"?   We will be starting the crazy busy sports season... next week!
  • Ben will be starting March Madness basketball, then moving into MSA soccer as soon as he finishes bball.
  • Anna starts 14U travel softball within the next few weeks and her season will go until July.
  • Rebekah will be starting 8U softball in April and her season will go into June.  Clint and my brother Larion will be coaching her team which is exciting ... and should make for an interesting softball season.
  • Michael has been practicing for the spring musical at Jimtown.  The performances are this weekend so that'll be done.  He also started track practice this week after school so we have that season starting.
  • John Michael continues to go to wheelchair basketball practice on Tuesday evenings and has started guitar lessons with his middle school teacher two days a week after school for the next 5 weeks.
  •  .. So... I'm enjoying the "calm" after and before the storms... :)  I'm bracing myself at the same time!! :)

I had one of my friends put together a video of some of the school "happenings" from this year.  She did a good job and it was a hit at the auction!

I was just thinking this morning how my life consists of running Sarah to and from things she is involved in and it isn't going to change anytime soon. Although, we as moms are thrilled that are kids are involved - it can be exhausting. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone in this :)

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain."

I thought of this quote when I read your blog. I thought you might like it.

The auction was great! It was nice to see you there!

Thanks for sharing that link in your previous post. I plan to listen to it when I have an hour!

Tell the kids HELLO for me!
