So the month started off with Clint being in Africa for 10 days. He went with a team from church ... Pastor Mark, Dawn, Kathy and Clint. They were an amazing team! They had their days packed with ministry every day. They did leadership training, prayer, made art projects with the children at the children's home (orphanage), an outreach for the community, movie night for the children and so much more. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from their trip.
John Michael is in middle school! I can't believe it! So each year the middle schoolers go to Bair Lake Bible Camp for a day of team building. It's a wonderful program of teaching them how to work together emotionally and physically. They talked a lot about emotional safety. This means to build each other up, not tear another person down. This is done with intention. Such a great program. In the morning they did group activities that required a lot of teamwork and then in the afternoon the kids did the high ropes course. Yes, I was convinced by other moms and kids that I should do it, even though I really don't like heights. Now I can say that I did it. :) Would I do it again? Probably! :)
This year was the first time that Covenant Christian was invited to participate in a Cross Country meet with other private schools. It was so much fun to watch the kids do their best. We had several kids come in second in their category, which was so fun. All the kids did so great!
The last weekend in September a group of us ladies from church went to Colorado for the weekend. We went for a women's retreat but on Friday had a free day on Friday before needing to be at the retreat center in the evening. We headed up to Lookout Mountain. Imagine travelling up a mountain in a big 15 passanger van with 12 ladies! Oh my goodness, what an adventure! We finally made it to the top and the view left me speechless. God's creativity is priceless! After spending some time up there and taking lots of pictures (I didn't have my good camera but luckily had my phone camera), we headed down and and then up another mountain to the retreat center. It was an amazing weekend of adventure, God, healing and new friends from across the country.
