Ok, so I admit that I've been slacking with posting on this blog. The month of October was another busy month.
On October 9 & 10 we hosted a Love & Respect Marriage conference at the church. I did the majority of the organizing, which kept me very busy. Clint and I have been to this conference 5 times now and truly believe in this ministry. You would think we would have a perfect marriage by now. :) The truth is that we learn something new each time we listen to this speaker! It seems that each time we catch something that is so relevent to where we are at the time and it's God's perfect timing for us to hear it. Gotta love how God works!
The week after the conference things picked up for the Art for the Heart of Africa Benefit Auction at the church. I was asked to help with organizing this event because of my experience with organizing auctions for the school. I agreed since this was a short commitment ... only 5-6 weeks. So, right after the conference I got very busy with the art auction! I lost sleep because of it constantly being on my mind. There were a lot emails and phone calls and many conversations and things to do to follow up on the communication!
The art auction was extremely successful!!! Our goal was to raise a minimum of $5000 to be able to put a roof on the school of the New Generation Dreamland Children's Home in Yei, Sudan (South Sudan). The wall structure has been there for 3 years and just needs a roof, windows and doors. We raised $18,000+!!! We are so excited for the children to have a roof and many other things that will be so helpful for them to be blessed and bring them hope. We don't know exactly what the extra money will be used for at this point but are expecting God to do great things with it.
On Saturday, the day after the auction I spent time organizing and attempting to tie up some loose ends. This is necessary but tedious work. On Sunday we spent the day with my family and then on Monday I crashed! I wanted to sleep all day! I've recovered now. :)
This is a video I had created for the auction. It shows the children of the New Generation Dreamland Children's Home in Yei, Sudan. I haven't met these children yet and I've fallen in love with them. Enjoy the video. :)
(I will post pictures of the auction soon.)
