Destiny Rescue

So last fall we had a missionary friend stay with us for a few days. Michelle runs a children's home in South Sudan. While she was here she talked about rescuing young girls from prostitution. She spoke at The Vineyard Church a few times over that weekend.

While speaking about rescuing young girls from prostitution in the brothels of South Sudan, this captured Anna and her friend Hannah's hearts. They simply said, "We should do something." This simple thought started something new!

Anna and Hannah decided on making some type of bag. I did some research and found a cool bag for them to try. The girls and I spent a day together with the goal of learning how to make these bags. It was a long day with the girls needing encouragement. Mistakes kept being made, needles kept breaking, and it took a long time just to make one bag. It was a frustrating day for the girls. In the end we made 2 bags! With more practice and experience the girls are now making schlep bags to raise money in hopes of freeing more young girls from prostitution.

The girls now have a small non-profit business called HAnnah's Freedom Bags!  They're so excited about what God is doing!

For several weeks I did some research in hopes of finding an organization to pardner with. A few months ago a friend posted on facebook that his wife was going to Cambodia/Thailand with an organization called Destiny Rescue. This sparked my interest and I followed her blog while she was on her trip with Destiny Rescue. I was quickly drawn to her story with Destiny Rescue.

I find out that Destiny Rescue frees young girls from prostitution AND their USA office is only 45 minutes from our house! Was this God? Anna and Hannah got excited about Destiny Rescue when I told them about it.

Through many emails, I set up a meeting time with Peter and Barbie from the USA office for yesterday morning.

Clint and I and Hannah's parents took the girls to meet with them. It was a wonderful time of listening to their personal story and the story of how Destiny Rescue began! God is so good and so faithful!

Is it God? We really feel like it is! We all left excited and in love with what God is doing through the people of Destiny Rescue! We made some plans for the girls to make some bags for them and we'll see where God takes it.
