Wheelchair Sports Camp

John Michael and I spent the first week in August in the Grand Rapids area for wheelchair sports camp. It was a good week for us. We left on Sunday evening, dropped Ben and Bekah off at my parent's, then headed to Grand Rapids. Camp started Monday morning at 8:30. Each day was packed with activities from 8:30-4:00.

The sports that they played were basketball, softball, handball (soccer), football, dodgeball, tennis, and sled hockey. He enjoyed all of them. He learned that tennis is one of his favorites. By Thursday John Michael was asking if he was going back to camp next year. :) He made new friends and learned that he can play other sports well too. I think this will be an annual trip for us.

As for myself, I spent the week doing things I enjoy ... having some solitude and biking. I took my roadbike along and rode the White Pine Trail. I rode 30 miles on Tuesday and 17 on Wednesday. I enjoy biking so this was the highlight for me.

On Wednesday evening Clint brought the kids up to spend a few hours with me on my birthday. Ben and Bekah then stayed with me until Friday.

Friday was parents and family day at camp. Clint, my parents and Josh & Sissa came! It was so fun being surprised by Josh and Sissa, some of our favorite people. It made John Michael's day to have them there. :)

I wish I had known you were up here. It would have been great to meet you and pick your brain about "life".

I am so glad that John Michael had a great time!
