Vacation

So Clint had the week of Aug. 10-16 off for vacation. It was a much needed vacation for him.

We started off the week with Clint and I going backpacking on the North Country Trail. We hiked in almost 4 miles and set up camp. We thought we were in the middle of nowhere where no one else would be. We got to the campsite and there's a man on a boat fishing on the lake below. On the other side of the lake we saw a camper but didn't think much of it. We had a nice quiet evening on making a campfire and relaxing. We saw a few deer, which was fun. After we were in bed it became very noisy! Whoever was in the camper across the lake became loud and obnoxious, stuff kept falling out of the trees around us and we kept hearing animals close to the tent. Needless to say, neither of us got much sleep. Good thing we only planned on one night this time. :) The backpacking was great, the camping .. not so much. Overall, it was really good for Clint and I to get away alone for a couple days.

On Wednesday we spent the day doing laundry and much needed cleaning in the house.

On Thursday morning we left to head to Chicago for a Cubs/Phillies game! It was so nice to sit back and watch a baseball game. Even better to watch the Phillies win! :)

On Friday morning we packed up and headed to Michigan's Adventure for the day. We spent a couple hours in the waterpark, which was wonderful since it was so hot. We enjoy amusement parks so this was so fun for us as a family.

We stayed in Grand Rapids for the night and then went to Holland, MI for a few hours on Saturday. We spent some time at Dutch Village, which was fun. We watched some dutch dancing, wooden shoe making, candle making (my favorite!) and did some fudge and cheese taste testing. Oh, and we also did a quick wooden shoe race. This was hilarious! We learned why the dutch wear 5-10 pairs of socks with their wooden shoes! It's painful without socks! So funny. :)

After the Dutch Village we went to Craig's Cruisers. The kids loved it! We spent several hours playing games, on bumper cars, go-cart racing, high ropes course and more games.
