D.A.R.E.

This was the year for John Michael to go through the DARE program at school. Each year the 5th grade class does this. It is a great program and one that the kids were and are so excited about. Lt. Williams does a wonderful job with the kids and takes time to build relationship with them to where they look forward to him being in the classroom. He clearly enjoys the kids!

Yesterday was DARE graduation. (CCS 5th graders are the first class to graduate and get the new shirts!) This is always a big deal! Mayor Jeff Rea, Chief of Police Kenneth Witkowski, and Lt. Tim Williams all acknowledge the kids with encouragement and reenforcing what they learned in class. It's a very special and memorable part of the graduation.

This year the entire class got medals for "best team"! This is normally for two students, but Lt Williams thought so highly of all the students and said "this is my most precious class so far". It was so touching to watch him interact with the kids.

Tonight John Michael went to a roller skating party hosted by Lt. Williams. Other local schools were there too. Two of his classmates were there. CCS kids were chosen to be the first to be recognized and choose their gifts. This was fun for them! :)

I'm so proud of John Michael for his enthusiastic approach to learning throughout this program. He has learned so much. It's been a blessing to listen to John Michael talk about what he's learned and the dreams that he has. He wants to be a professional wheelchair basketball player and be a sports analyst. I'd say those are big dreams. I believe he can do it! :)

Those are certainly dreams that are pregnant with possibility with the help of our great God!
