So the blog has been neglected. Life gets crazy and consumed by other things.
The past few weeks were simply insanely busy. I was co-chair of the school auction again this year. This was, hands down, the best year on the auction team yet!! Working with my friend, Mary, was such a blessing. Her and I think alike and do things alike. We work really well together. We also connected a lot in other areas of our lives. God is good. I appreciate Mary!!
So the auction... Oh my goodness, God was all over it! Even though this is the biggest fundraiser for the school, both Mary and I felt a peace about it from the beginning. Neither one of us wanted to chair the event ... or even do anything for that matter... but she did it because of me and I did it because of her. We both saw a huge need for help. That was a God-thing and us simply walking in obedience to Him.
We spent hours and hours, days and days, and months, working and praying for this event to be successful. We spent A LOT of time at the school, at home online emailing back and forth, even picking up stuff together. The last 10 days before the auction night we had late nights of emails flying back and forth between us ... even until midnight some nights. It was crazy! We had 12-16 hours days dedicated to this event!
The auction happened on Friday the 27th. It was great. It was very successful. It was our best auction yet. It was satisfying. It was worth it. It was a miracle! It was blessed by God's hands!
In the end, we exceeded our goal of $25,000!!!!! This makes all the hours of diligently working on this worth it! With the way the economy is today, this is truly a miracle. There is no other word for it.... MIRACLE! There was a time when our flesh was doubting the success of this event, but yet we had a peace within us... God! He is so good!
It has taken me days to recover from the auction. I crashed in a big way on Saturday afternoon. I could not stay awake, plus slept all night. For the next few days I was simply exhausted. I have never crashed like that before. I've decided that this was my last year as co-chair of the auction committee. I'm thinking 4 years with this kind of event is enough. I'd like to end on a good note. :)
With all that "finished" (there is still some work to be done with wrapping up some after-auction stuff), there is now time for other things...
I can do my laundry in one day now. :) I can spend time at home like I love doing. I can think about other things now. I can talk to Clint about other issues now. I can spend more time with my kids (yes, they sacrificed too!).
I am already organizing the next event for the school. In April we will be having a wheelchair basketball game... Covenant Christian School 8th graders, alumni, parents and faculty vs. The River City Rollers (their website is on the left). Last year was the first year for this event and people loved it! I'm hoping to have a bigger crowd this year. I've already had people tell me that they will be inviting more family and friends this year, now that they know what to expect and because they enjoyed it so much last year. By the way, organizing this event is nothin' compared to the auction! :)
Clint and I are going to Indianapolis this weekend. We both need some time away!!! Clint has been consumed with the church building and I've been consumed with the auction. We both need to get away so we can breathe again.
