Labor Day

We spent Labor Day weekend in Pittsburgh with the Cauffman family. It was so good to spend time with them. We really wanted to see Grandmom and to hopefully give her a good weekend to help take her mind off of issues that are facing her right now. We had a great time!

Grandmom was doing well enough to spend a few hours at Kennywood Park, which is a local amusement park. She was having a ball with the grandkids! She even road in a "race car" with John Michael. That was a highlight of the day. :) So fun to see her have fun!

On Monday morning we wanted to go to the cemetary to see the memorial stone, which we hadn't seen yet. At the last minute I decided to get some balloons to release in memory of PopPop. Each of us wrote a note to PopPop on our balloons. Each person was free to write whatever they wanted and didn't have to show anyone. It was a time of being real with yourself. My hope is that it was a time of healing... even if alittle.

The release of the balloons was great! As we watched them float higher and higher it was fun to hear the kids use their imaginations of how the balloons were forming different shapes like a smiley face, sad face, heart, etc. At one point they clearly formed a "J"! ... For John Ronald Cauffman. :) That was so cool! Grandmom really enjoyed that. As the balloons got higher and higher they really did look like colored stars! Loved it! The day was perfect for a balloon release!!
