My life today

So, I'm sitting at Hacienda munching on chips and salsa. ...This is one of my favorite places. :) Not necessarily healthy for me, but it sure tastes good! :)... I was going through my email and came across a link to a website to University of Illinois...
We are considering having John Michael go to a wheelchair basketball camp there this summer. As a mom this is emotional! The fact that I would even consider letting my 12 year old son stay on a college campus without me for 3-4 days is heartwrenching to think about. It means he's growing up! The adults caring for him are ones with similar disabilities and understand his needs, but ... it's not mom.
JM isn't sure if he wants to go yet. We encouraged him to seriously consider it. We explained what it would mean to go to the camp. It would be an opportunity to be taught by National Champions college wheelchair basketball players who have his best interests in mind. It would improve his game tremendously. He would be playing basketball for 3 days! What fun! He's hesitant at the thought of being away from us. Another thing to pray about.
God has gifted JM with the natural ability to play almost any sport. He has given this boy the determination to do whatever he wants to do. I want him to succeed in ALL he does that is good, but God wants him to succeed more than I do. "Lord, give me wisdom as his mother!" I don't always know what's best for him. Like all of you, I do my best.
Today I'm feeling sentimental as a mom. My kids are growing up so fast! We watched some home videos a couple weeks ago. Bekah was 2 and so doggone cute. :) She's so pretty now... still cute, but so pretty. Then there's Ben. Still ornery and so handsome! :) He loves his morning and nighttime hugs and kisses. I hope that never stops because I sure would miss them!
Being a mom is so rewarding!!!! I love it!!!!
