A couple weeks ago I did a teaching on hearing the voice of
God. As I was preparing for the teaching something struck me. Hearing the voice
of God is a process. Each part of the process is vital.
First, we need to make ourselves available to listen to God.
This takes intentionality.
It takes diligence.
It takes persistence at times.
We have to want to do this.
This is big.
This is very personal.
We want his voice to be clear and distinct.
Being able to hear His voice is powerful in our lives.
THEN we need to be obedient.
This changes our lives dramatically.
It can be hard to do.
It’s so necessary for our growth as a person.
No one regrets doing this.
I have watched two precious people go through this process
on a regular basis for the past three years. They have been so very faithful in
this. I’m sure it hasn’t been done perfectly (like all of us) but I know that
they have done the best that they could possibly do. I do know that they have
gone through this process well over and over.
Our daughter Anna and Nate are newly engaged! I’m excited
for them and can’t wait to see what God will do in their lives because of their
diligence in making themselves available to listen, hearing Him and then
walking in obedience to what He says.
I deeply respect Nate for his faithfulness in his
relationship with Jesus and for loving Anna so purely and simply the way that
she needs him to. I love Anna’s heart for her new fiancĂ©. I know that her heart
is pure and lovely for him. I’m proud of both of you and know that God will
honor your faithfulness to his call on your lives.
