7-11, Slurpees and Daddy John

Today is "Free Slurpee Day" at every 7-11 store. We love slurpees! There are strings attached to slurpees and a very special reason why we enjoy them so much, maybe more than others do.

 
You see, this day, July 11 (or 7-11) is the day that Daddy John died 9 years ago. Not only that, during his last summer here on earth he started this fun thing with the kids of taking them to 7-11 every Saturday to get slurpees. He grew up drinking slurpees and wanted his kids to enjoy them as much as he did. I think his mission was accomplished! His kids DO enjoy slurpees as much as he did. This makes me smile. :)

Today the kids and I went to 7-11 to get our free slurpees in honor of their Daddy John. I love that we can celebrate his life in this way! He would be thrilled!

John enjoyed golfing and apparently was giving his golfing buddy a hard time. :)
